About

Young Catholics for Ordered Migration

A just nation welcomes rightly, and guards rightly.

We are young Catholics who believe migration can be both humane and ordered. Rooted in the dignity of every person and the duty we owe our neighbors, we work for a policy that honors the stranger, protects the citizen, and upholds the law.

Our Mission

To pursue a migration policy that is ordered, lawful, and genuinely humane.

The Church has long taught that nations may welcome newcomers and may also regulate their borders with prudence. These truths are not in tension. YCOM exists to hold them together: to insist that compassion and order belong in the same policy, and that neither the vulnerable migrant nor the lawful citizen should be sacrificed for the other.

We advance this conviction through reasoned argument, faithful witness, and respectful engagement with those who shape the public order.

Why We Exist

The debate has become a choice between two half-truths.

Too often the conversation forces a false choice: welcome without limits, or limits without mercy. One side forgets the citizen, the social fabric, and the law that holds a nation together. The other forgets the face of Christ in the migrant at the door.

YCOM was formed because faithful Catholics deserve a third way that is neither. We refuse to let charity be weaponized against order, or order be used as a shield against charity. A nation can secure its borders and open its heart. We hold both because the Church holds both.

What We Hold

Five commitments we will not trade away

Dignity of the citizen

Working families, communities, and the common life of the nation are owed real protection. The person already here is a neighbor too.

Ordered migration

Welcome works best when it is lawful, orderly, and sustainable. Clear process honors both the newcomer and the nation that receives them.

The common good

Policy should serve the whole community — not one faction, one party, or one interest. We weigh every measure against the good of all.

The rule of law

Just laws, justly enforced, protect everyone — most of all the weak. Respect for law is not cruelty; it is the ground of a humane order.

Respectful dialogue

We argue in good faith, assume the dignity of our opponents, and refuse the language of contempt. Persuasion, not provocation.

Held together

These commitments stand or fall together. Remove any one and the others collapse into ideology. We keep all five.

How We Work

Engaging the Church and the public square.

Our aim is persuasion, not noise. We seek genuine dialogue with bishops, pastors, and Catholic institutions — and with lawmakers, officials, and civic leaders of every persuasion. We bring the fullness of Catholic social teaching to a conversation too often starved of it.

We make the case that welcome and order are not rivals but partners, and we invite those who shape policy to build a system worthy of both the migrant’s hope and the citizen’s trust.

We stand for a nation that welcomes rightly and guards rightly — because the Gospel asks for both.

This is the work of YCOM: to witness, to reason, and to build toward a migration policy that is ordered, lawful, and humane — one that a faithful Catholic and a responsible citizen can both call just.
